Unlike many vegetable tanned leathers, Hermann Oak hides go directly into tannins after the beam house stage without being pickled, resulting in a firmer leather with fewer residual salts and exceptionally smooth cutting. The natural grain enamel is preserved rather than stripped away, which supports even dye and oil absorption, crisp stamping, and strong burnishing.
