Our Round Leather Cord is made from top grain leather that is center cut from the hide to ensure strength and consistency. It is precision cut for a clean, consistent round shape that is smooth, flexible, and easy to work with. The cord is naturally oiled for additional softness, while still maintaining its durability. Left natural without dyes or pigments, it this craft leather cording shows organic variation in tone, grain, and surface character throughout and will develop rich patina with age.

Length Options:

• By the yard - continuous length
  • For example, if you order a quantity of 4, you will get 4 continuous yards.
  • When ordered by the continuous yard, you may receive multiple strands due to natural breaks in the material. If there are breaks in the continuous yardage, we ensure no individual piece will be less than 1 yard. See information on splices below.
• Small spool
  • 10 meters or 5 meters depending on the thickness
• Large spool
  • 50 meters or 25 meters depending on the thickness

Splices: No hidden splices! - The cord is not spliced together and maintains even strength throughout each piece. There will be noticeable breaks in the strand where the raw material comes to an end.

What is leather cord?

Leather cord and lace are long, thin strips of leather that are durable and flexible. The material is commonly used for bracelets, necklaces, beading, drawstrings, hatbands, bolo ties, stitching, laces, woven goods, tassels, fringe, piping, and repair.

What are splices?

Like leather straps, leather cord is a natural product made from cow hide and can only be as long as the animal itself. Splices are when cord from multiple hides are glued together to look like a continuous piece. While this may seem like a good thing, it creates a weak point in the cord. Without splices, you know where the weak point is and can work around it. Our leather cord does not contain splices. Instead, you can clearly see where one piece comes to an end and another begins.
