Loctite® 263 High-Strength Threadlocker

Loctite 263 is a high-strength, primerless liquid threadlocker designed for permanently locking and sealing metal threaded fasteners. It helps prevent loosening and leakage caused by shock and vibration.

The anaerobic formula cures when confined between close-fitting metal surfaces in the absence of air. Loctite 263 works on active and passive metals, including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and plated surfaces. It also tolerates minor contamination from thread lubricants, anticorrosion fluids, and protective fluids.

Loctite 263 is designed for heavy-duty applications requiring high strength. It can be used on metal fasteners up to 1" in diameter. Heat is required for disassembly.

Application Instructions:

• Prepare: Clean threaded parts before application. Loctite 263 tolerates minor surface contamination, but heavily contaminated parts should be cleaned.
• Apply: Apply the threadlocker to the threaded engagement area.
• Assemble: Assemble and tighten the fastener as required.
• Cure: Allow the product to cure. Typical fixture time is 10 minutes, and full cure is reached in 24 hours.

Fixture and cure times can vary based on the substrate, temperature, bond gap, and use of an activator.

Disassembly:

Apply localized heat to the nut or stud and disassemble while hot.

Threadlockers vs. Superglues

Loctite 263 is an anaerobic threadlocker designed for metal threaded fasteners. It cures between close-fitting metal surfaces in the absence of air. Superglues use a different adhesive technology and are intended for bonding surfaces rather than locking threaded metal fasteners.
