Renia Ortec Multi-Purpose Contact Cement
Renia Ortec is a solvent-based contact adhesive made for footwear, orthotics, leathercraft, and general workshop use. This professional-grade universal formula is designed to create strong, flexible bonds across a wide range of materials such as leather, rubber, EVA, cork, felt, foams, and more. As a polychloroprene-based adhesive, Ortec offers strong initial tack, dependable durability, and a practical working window for accurate assembly. It is also toluene-free, dries clear without yellowing, and can be used for both cold bonding and heat reactivation workflows. All Renia adhesives are 100% free of Toluene and MEK.

- Open Time: Approximately 60 minutes
- Once glue is applied, open time will vary depending on temperature, humidity, and material type. If needed, the adhesive can also be used with heat reactivation.
- Color When Dry: Clear, non-yellowing
- Effectively Bonds With:
- Leather, Rubber, Felt, Cork, EVA, TR (thermoplastic rubber), foams, and many common footwear and leathercraft materials
- Not recommended for plasticized PVC
Application Instructions:
- Prepare surfaces: Clean, dry, and free of oils, dust, or finishes. Lightly roughen smooth materials such as rubber or EVA for improved adhesion.
- Apply adhesive: Apply an even coat to both mating surfaces using a brush or roller in a well-ventilated area.
- Allow to tack: Let dry until tacky, typically about 5 to 30 minutes depending on temperature and humidity.
- Bond surfaces: Join carefully and apply firm, even pressure. Repositioning is limited once contact is made.
- Cure: Bond strength builds over time, with best results after approximately 24 hours. Heat reactivation may be used if required.

Contact Adhesives vs Pressure Sensitive Adhesives (PSAs)
- Contact adhesives bond instantly when both sides are joined and are difficult to reposition afterward.
- Pressure sensitive adhesives will not bond until pressure is applied and can be repositioned until then.
