Wickett & Craig "English" Bridle Veg Tanned Leather Belly - Dark Brown

** Please note: Bellies are typically considered scrap leather. They are good for small cuttings and for practicing your leather work. Bellies will have areas of looseness, holes, scratch marks, and other blemishes. Our Wickett & Craig bellies range from about 3-5 square feet. We have these split down to weight at the tannery. The back side of the belly is not refinished and therefore has splotchy areas of dark brown color and other areas of natural color throughout. **

The Tannery: Wickett & Craig of Curwensville, PA, USA (est. 1867)

  • English Bridle: The most popular of the Wickett & Craig leathers, English bridle leather is drum dyed in a range of finishes, then hot stuffed with waxes making this leather smooth and flexible with a waxy texture.
  • Wickett & Craig "English" Bridle Leather is among the highest end vegetable tanned leathers in the world. Crafted in the USA, Wickett & Craig is known for quality, durability, and rich finishes.

The Best Belly around

I purchased this belly for a special project. It turned out to be an excellent piece to work with. First, the belly comes with a cut straight edge. I was able to start cutting my straps right out of the box. Secondly, it is mostly uniform in thickness and the top grain is smooth and begging for a hi...

Love these bellies

I really like the bellies for making small leather accessories. The different weights make it nice for wallets so I can make the outer leather 3/4 oz and the inner 2/3 oz. Some bellies are cleaner than others but great fun to play with. I wish Wickett and Craig came in double shoulders! It’s hard ...
