Color Families: Scrap boxes are organized by color family. For the families that contain a variety of colors and leather types, we try to vary the colors as much as possible, but depending on the selection at time of packing the box could contain all one type/color.

• • Scrap bundles come with both large and small remnant pieces cut from all areas of the hide. These pieces are great for small leather items, trim, repairs, practice, wallets, key fobs, test pieces, and many other leather projects.

Grade: Scrap comes from the same top-grade leathers we sell as panels, straps, sides, etc. Please note that scrap remnants will often come with imperfections, irregular shapes, mixed grain areas, or other natural variation.

About the Leather Types:

• English Bridle Leather: A finished leather that is drum dyed and hot stuffed (saturated with waxes, oils and tallows).
• Traditional Harness Leather: Hot stuffed and 'jack glazed' creating a beautiful and glossy top grain.
• 'Milled' Traditional Harness Leather: Similar to traditional harness, but embossed and tumbled making it more supple.
• Skirting Leather: Similar to bridle leather but not hot stuffed, so used more for tooling, molding and finishing.
• Carving & American Vachetta: Unfinished leathers that mold and tool beautifully and will take on dye and oil.

How much scrap leather will I get?

How many pieces of leather are in each scrap box depends on the weight, thickness, and shapes of the leather remnants. Below are just examples of typical yields for scrap leather boxes. Every box is unique and contains pieces of many varying shapes, sizes, and usability.

• Light Weight (2.5-7.5oz) – Approx. 5 sq ft per pound
• Heavy Weight (8-12oz) - Approx. 2.5 sq ft per pound

Is scrap leather a deal?

Yes! Our scrap leather boxes are made up of the same quality leathers we sell in larger cuts, just marked down because of the odd shapes and remnant mixture. These boxes are a great option for smaller projects, testing, repairs, and leatherworkers who want top leather at a lower price.
