Renia Aquilim GL Chloroprene Rubber Dispersion (Water-Based PSA Adhesive)
Renia Aquilim GL is a water-based pressure sensitive adhesive made for leathercraft, footwear, orthotics, and general workshop use. This professional-grade dispersion adhesive is designed to create flexible, durable bonds without solvent exposure, making it a more workshop-friendly option for indoor use. Built on chloroprene rubber dispersion technology, Aquilim GL offers reliable tack, strong final adhesion, and compatibility with a wide range of materials such as leather, rubber, EVA, and more. Its pressure-sensitive adhesive properties allow bonding once pressure is applied, while optional heat activation can be used when higher bond strength is needed. Designed for a temporary bond, materials should be sewn, stitched, riveted, or otherwise reinforced after bonding.
Aquilim GL Adhesive Specs:
- Available Sizes:
- Half Pint (8 fl oz)
- Pint (16 fl oz)
- Quart (32 fl oz)
- Strength: Flexible and durable temporary bond with pressure-sensitive bonding capability
- Type: Water-based
- Open Time: Varies by application and shop conditions
- Allow the adhesive to dry until transparent and tacky before bonding. Dry time will vary depending on temperature, humidity, material type, and coat thickness. Heat activation may be used to improve bond strength on difficult materials.
- Color When Dry: Clear to translucent
- Effectively Bonds With:
- Leather, Rubber, EVA, TR (thermoplastic rubber), Felt, Cork, and many common footwear and leathercraft materials
- Surface preparation and heat activation may be required for certain synthetics.
Application Instructions:
- Prepare surfaces: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and properly prepared. Lightly roughen smooth materials such as rubber or EVA for improved adhesion.
- Apply adhesive: Apply an even coat to both mating surfaces.
- Allow to tack: Let the adhesive dry until transparent and tacky before bonding.
- Bond surfaces: Join surfaces carefully and apply firm, even pressure. As a pressure-sensitive adhesive, bonding occurs once adequate pressure is applied.
- Cure: Bond strength continues to build over time, with best results after approximately 24 hours. Heat activation may improve bond strength on difficult materials.
Common Uses:
- Footwear construction and repair
- Bonding leather components
- Orthotic and prosthetic fabrication
- Bags, belts, and small leather goods
- Multi-material leather assemblies
- Indoor workshop bonding applications
Safety & Handling
- Protect from freezing
- Not intended for use as a structural gap filler
- Use only in a well-ventilated area
- Follow all safety guidance on the product label and SDS
- Shipping restrictions may apply
- SDS or MDS available upon request
Contact Adhesives vs Pressure Sensitive Adhesives (PSAs)
- Contact adhesives bond instantly when both sides are joined and are difficult to reposition afterward.
- Pressure sensitive adhesives will not bond until pressure is applied and can be repositioned until then.
Cold Weather Shipping Restrictions
This product is sensitive to freezing temperatures and may be damaged if exposed to cold conditions during transit. To help ensure it arrives in proper condition, orders may be delayed or held when shipping routes are experiencing freezing weather.
