Renia Aquilim 130 Polyurethane Dispersion (Heat Activated Water-Based Adhesive)
Renia Aquilim 130 is a water-based contact adhesive made for footwear, leathercraft, orthotics, and technical bonding applications. This professional-grade polyurethane dispersion is designed for strong, flexible bonding on a wide range of shoe and leather materials while offering a lower-solvent alternative to traditional contact cements. Aquilim 130 dries to a transparent film, then is heat reactivated before bonding, making it a high-performance option for demanding multi-material work.
Aquilim 130 Adhesive Specs:
- Available Sizes:
- Half Pint (8 fl oz)
- Pint (16 fl oz)
- Quart (32 fl oz)
- Strength: High Strength Permanent Bond (full strength at 2-3 days)
- Type: Water-Based
- Drying Time: 30-60 minutes
- Once the adhesive film becomes transparent, it must be rapidly reactivated to 176°F (80°C) and then bonded under pressure. Reactivation time: 5-60 seconds.
- Color When Dry: Transparent
Aquilim 130 is white in the container. The dry adhesive film is dull at first and becomes transparent when fully dried before reactivation.
- Effectively Bonds With:
Leather, Rubber, Cork, Natural Rubber, Polyurethane (PUR), Vulkollan, Perbunan, PVC, and other shoe-related materials. Aquilim 130 can also be used as a primer.
Application Instructions:
- Prepare surfaces: Sand or roughen all materials. Halogenate new polyurethane (PUR) and thermoplastic rubber (TR) with Rehagol and let it work for at least 15 minutes. Leather and freshly split Vulkollan can be bonded without preparation, though testing is recommended first.
- Apply adhesive: Apply Aquilim 130 to both surfaces as a contact adhesive using a brush, roller, or spray system.
- Allow to dry: Let the adhesive dry until the film becomes transparent. Drying time can be shortened with suitable aids such as a drying tunnel or hot air blower.
- Bond surfaces: Rapidly heat the dried adhesive film to 176°F (80°C), then press the materials together warmly with appropriate pressure. Bonded parts can be handled after a few minutes.
- Cure: Final bond strength increases continuously and reaches maximum after 2-3 days.
Common Uses:
- Footwear construction and repair
- Bonding leather components
- Orthotic and technical footwear applications
- Multi-material shoe assemblies
- Applications where a high-performance water-based adhesive is preferred
Safety & Handling
- Protect from freezing
- Use only in a well-ventilated area
- Follow all safety guidance on the product label and SDS
- Shipping restrictions may apply
- SDS or MDS available upon request
Contact Adhesives vs Pressure Sensitive Adhesives (PSAs)
- Contact adhesives bond when adhesive is applied to both surfaces, allowed to dry to the proper stage, and then joined under pressure.
- Pressure sensitive adhesives will not fully bond until pressure is applied and can often be repositioned until then.
Cold Weather Shipping Restrictions
This product is sensitive to freezing temperatures and may be damaged if exposed to cold conditions during transit. To help ensure it arrives in proper condition, orders may be delayed or held when shipping routes are experiencing freezing weather.
